We pride ourselves on standing up for our communities on the issues that matter to them. YFS drives system and policy change through evidence and the stories of people experiencing hardship firsthand.

By taking a strong stance on housing affordability, community safety, youth and family wellbeing, and financial stability, we back people to thrive, by fostering safety, hope, and opportunity.

Action on housing and homelessness

• YFS is advocating for coordinated action to address growing housing pressures and homelessness in Logan and the surrounds, to support people through every stage of their journey toward stability.

Preventing domestic and family violence

• YFS is seeking to expand domestic and family violence programs that draw on local knowledge and evidence to strengthen support for victim-survivors, improve safety, and prevent violence through targeted men’s work and early intervention.

Strengthening supports for families and young people

• We are pushing for an increase in community-led early intervention and supports for families and young people to empower them to create safe and healthy futures and prevent contact with the Child Safety and Youth Justice systems.
• YFS is also a strong advocate for greater support for young people exiting the care system.

Investment in high-growth, high-need regions

• YFS is calling for Logan to be recognised as a priority region in funding frameworks due to its distinct and urgent needs, rapid population growth, and ongoing social and economic disadvantage.

Developing social enterprise and employment opportunities

• Through our social enterprise, Substation33, YFS aims to strengthen our profile as a leader in social impact.
• We also champion the need for wraparound employment services for jobseekers to create sustainable pathways toward independence.

Leading service integration

• YFS is encouraging greater exploration into integrated service models that bring together housing, family support, domestic and family violence, employment, and financial counselling under one coordinated approach.
• We seek to be a leader in this space, with early evidence showing positive outcomes across multiple areas of need for our clients.
