Centre-based Response Service

If you are based in or around Logan and need housing or homelessness support, Centre-based Response Service offers free assistance. 

With housing challenges affecting more Queenslanders than ever, YFS is committed to helping you find a home. 

Housing specialists provide information tailored to your or your family’s needs and can help you find the right support, so you are confident with your next steps. This might include providing referrals to other organisations with specialist services or linking you in with other YFS teams. 

After reaching out to YFS, a housing specialist from Centre-based Response Service will call you back to learn more about your situation. Unfortunately, this might take a few days if they are experiencing a high number of requests.  

Our housing specialists will provide information specific to your needs and help you plan your next steps. If possible, they will also connect you with other YFS services for help to: 

• manage rent or mortgage arrears  

• find a home that meets your needs 

• learn how to develop a strong rental history 

• link in with our youth and families housing specialists 

• find work so you can afford to keep living in your community 

• access support for your physical and mental health 

Our Centre-based Response team understands how stressful it can be when you need housing support and will call you back as soon as they can.  If you are unavailable when they return your call, a message will be left (if your phone has that option) inviting you to call us back if you still need assistance.  

If you need urgent housing help, we recommend contacting the Homeless Hotline on 1800 474 753. 

Centre-based Response Service accepts referrals from community‑based professionals and services, government departments, and other YFS programs.   

We respond to all requests for assistance. However, response times and types depend on the level of need and the number of requests we receive. The most vulnerable people are prioritised, particularly families with children who are sleeping rough.  

Other key factors that inform prioritisation include:  

• Housing situation (particularly rough sleepers and people experiencing long term, chronic homelessness)  

• Vulnerable populations (children, young people, and First Nations people)  

• Multiple, complex needs (health, mental health, AOD, DFV).
