Overview

Youthlink supports young people aged 12-21 in Logan and Redlands. We’ll help you to reconnect with your family, local community and services.

YFS believes young people thrive when they feel valued, have a genuine say in how they are supported, and are connected to family, friends, and their community.

Youthlink’s Youth Development Coaches offer flexible, respectful support based on your goals. We help you to:

  • strengthen connections with your family, community, or other support networks
  • link in with school, training, or employment opportunities
  • access mental health care
  • find and maintain safe, stable accommodation.

Youthlink coaches go the extra mile: we’ll stick with you and advocate for your rights and interests.

What to expect

After you contact or are referred to Youthlink, a member of our team will get in touch to have an initial conversation with you.

This first step is a chance for us to learn more about you and check whether we are the right service to support you at this time. If we’re not, we will do our best to help connect you with appropriate support.

If Youthlink is a good fit, a Youth Development Coach will book an initial appointment with you. This can happen at your home, at a YFS office, or somewhere else you feel comfortable.

Your coach will help you to identify what is important to you and what you want to work towards. Together, you will set goals, plan next steps, and work through challenges along the way. Everyone’s needs, strengths, and interests are different, so support looks different for each young person. These are some examples of what we can help you with:

  • practical assistance, like making health appointments
  • developing life skills, like personal and emotional awareness
  • building positive connections with other people your age and your family
  • finding a job or study program that’s the right fit for you and your strengths.

Your Youth Development Coach will check in with you regularly to discuss how your life is going and whether your goals are being met, or if they need to be updated based on new priorities.
